The Sanguine Attic Body Butter Recipe

I have very dry skin year round but its especially worse during the winter months. My skin becomes tight, itchy, painful, cracks and sometimes bleeds. I also have eczema, dermatitis, keratosis pilaris and occasional flare ups of psoriasis. Not to mention, I live in a dry climate as well. It's crucial that I moisturize my skin daily.

Upon receiving my Rise 'n Shine Online raw shea and cocoa butter I couldn't wait to use it. The raw cocoa butter smells absolutely divine! It has a strong chocolaty smell that I love. This cocoa butter is imported from Ecuador, 100% organic, raw, unrefined and non-deodorized. It can be used for diy skincare/haircare products as well as for making chocolate and/or for baking. The cocoa butter is completely solid and has a crumbly type of texture. Though solid, it will melt at body temperature. I made the most simple solid lotion bar by cutting off the amount of cocoa butter I needed with a knife, melting it in a double boiler and pouring it into a mold and that's it, super easy! The shea butter is 100% pure, raw, unrefined and imported from Ghana. It has a mild sweet, nutty, earthy smell with a slightly smoky undertone.

I enjoy the natural smell of the shea butter. However, if you are not so fond of it you can easily mask it when combined with essential oils and/or other butters. The shea butter has a texture similar to cookie dough. It's soft enough to use right out of the container. It has the slightest gritty feel to it but as soon as you rub it between your hands it's a rich, creamy, smooth butter that melts into your skin.

I made a whipped body butter by melting equal parts shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil (I used 1/4 cup of each) In a double boiler.

Set the bowl in the freezer for about 15 minutes or so.I then added 8 drops tea tree oil and 10 drops lavender oil and whipped it with a hand mixer for about 10 minutes until it formed soft peaks and was nice and fluffy.

It makes a rich, silky body butter.

It's amazing and smells lovely!

I put it on my entire body, head to toe every morning and every night and it feels so nice. I've noticed a lot of improvement in my skin conditions since I have been using it.It has also started to fade/lighten some of my stretch marks as well as diminish some of my wrinkles and plump/firm my facial skin. I highly recommend Rise 'n Shine Online raw shea butter and raw cocoa butter they are fresh and great quality.
